Song Ma District People's Committee in collaboration with cooperatives and enterprises exported 40 tons of high-quality longan in the 2023 crop year to 3 major markets: China, EU and UK GB.
China, EU and UK GB are large, highly competitive markets and require strict standards for the quality of imported agricultural products. Therefore, the successful export of Song Ma longan to these markets is a proud achievement for farmers in Song Ma district in particular and Vietnamese agricultural products in general.
Song Ma longan has passed strict standards of food safety and quality, recognized and accepted by export partners. This result is thanks to the coordination and concentration of resources from all levels of government and the dedication and continuous efforts of Song Ma farmers in improving product quality and affirming the position of Song Ma Longan. on the international market.
To prepare for export shipments of Song Ma longan, growing areas have improved production capacity, built safe fruit zones, and developed linkage chains. Currently, the whole district has 48 planting area codes on a total area of 481.7 hectares, with an output of 4,817 tons.
Besides, there were 73 cooperatives and 01 company operating in the field of agriculture, focusing mainly on longan; 47 cooperatives and 01 company producing safe fruit according to VietGAP process with 50 chains of links, area of 900.42 ha, fruit output is estimated at over 9,778 tons; 3,000 households dried longan and received instructions for clean heat drying to ensure longan consumption and processing, aiming for the export market for higher value.
Modernized farming methods, with emphasis on seed quality, care and harvesting procedures, compliance with food safety standards, and attainment of relevant certifications also play an important role in creating trust. trust and confidence from international partners.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Deputy Head of Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Song Ma district said: “The whole Song Ma district has over 70 cooperatives growing longan. Output in 2023 is estimated at over 70,000 tons. Currently, Song Ma district has consumed over 7,000 tons of longan. Especially this year, the market for longan consumption is more diverse, in addition to the main market of supermarkets, wholesale markets and China, it also exports to the EU and UK GB markets.

At the same time, strengthen advertising and trade promotion at fairs, festivals, supermarkets inside and outside the province in order to promote the district's agricultural products and expand the market; strengthen propaganda and development orientation of concentrated raw material areas in order to improve safe and traceable products to enhance the brand name of Song Ma Longan”.
